Ingredients for Sprouted Moth Chaat
Moth मोठ - 1/2 cup, 100 grams
Salt नमक - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder हल्दी पाउडर - 1/4 tsp
Black Salt काला नमक - 3/4 tsp
Chaat Masala चाट मसाला - 3/4 tsp
Green Chilli हरी मिर्च - 1 finely chopped
Roasted Cumin seeds भुना जीरा पाउडर - 1/2 tsp
Tomato टमाटर - 1 chopped
Potato, boiled उबला आलू - 1 medium size,
Green Chutney हरी चटनी - 2 tsp
Lemon नींबू - 1/2 medium size
Green Coriander हरा धनिया - 1 tbsp
How to make Sprouted Moth chaat?
1. Soak 1/2 cup of Moth in drinking water. Water should be 2 twice the quantity of Moth. Cover and leave it for 10 -12 hrs.
2. After 10-12 hrs, discard the water and wash the Moth once with drinking water.
3. To sprout the Moth, wrap the Moth in a wet towel and keep it in a sieve. Take a plate, place a bowl on the plate, and keep the sieve over the bowl. Leave the Moth to sprout for 20 hrs.
4. Pour 1 cup of water in a cooking vessel. Turn on the stove and add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder to water and bring the water to a boil.
5. Add the sprouted Moth to the water once there is a boil in the water. Cover the vessel and cook the sprouted Moth for 5 minutes over medium flame.
6. After 5 mins, if the grain of the Moth is pressable, then turn off the flame and take it out in a sieve.
7. To prepare chaat, add 3/4 tsp black salt, 3/4 tsp chaat masala, 1-finely chopped chili, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1-chopped tomato, 1-chopped boiled potato, 2 tsp green coriander chutney, 1/2 lemon juice, and mix well.
8. Add some chopped coriander leaves. Sprouted Moth healthy & tasty chaat is ready to be served.
